Jay oil Company is the main producer of bitumen in Iran. Jay Oil Refining Company was established in 2003 with the investment of the Oil Industry Employees Pension Fund. With a nominal capacity of 1,800,000 tons, the company is the largest producer of bitumen in the Middle East. The company has two production and storage sites in Isfahan and Bandar Abbas and the central office of Tehran. Isfahan site has 4 separate units for the production of blown bitumen with a total nominal capacity of 40,000 barrels per day, soluble bitumen with a nominal capacity of 7,100 barrels per day and emulsion bitumen with a capacity of 200 tons per day. This site has a separate unit for the production of polymer and modified bitumen with a capacity of 100,000 tons per year. Jay Petroleum Laboratory is the best-equipped bitumen industrial laboratory in the country and the region and has been recognized as the first International Accreditation Laboratory with a standard certificate of 17025 since 2007. This laboratory was used as a reference for exporting the results of various types of bitumen and cooperating with various inspection companies, including SGS and Atlas in the region. Bandar Abbas site of the storage and export terminal complex was put into operation in 2016 to provide various delivery services. The complex includes 8 tanks with a capacity of 3,000 tons (total storage capacity of 24,000 tons) and the design, construction and operation of this site is based on global standards ASTM, IPS, API, NFPA20. Bitumen products include:
1_Breathed bitumen: From blowing hot air into pure bitumen in the last stage of purification is obtained.
They are used to make roofing sheets, car batteries, waterproof paints and lining.
2_Special bitumen: This type of bitumen is produced according to the request of customers with special specifications for regional and case applications and is mainly in the form of modified bitumen and oxidized bitumen.
3_Emulsion bitumen: It is a mixture of two liquids (water and bitumen) that are insoluble in which bitumen is suspended in very small particles in water.
The diameter of the bitumen grains is between 0.001 and 0.002 mm. The smaller the diameter of the bitumen particles, the better the emulsion.
Cationic emulsion bitumens based on their stability against breaking into three main groups:
- Rapid Setting
- Medium Setting
- Slow Setting
At present, emulsion bitumens are used in all hot and cold asphalt works and all kinds of protective asphalts, penetrating and surface coatings and soil stabilization, as the case may be.
4_ Soluble bitumen: are obtained by dissolving pure bitumen in solvents or petroleum oils.
For single coat and prime coat uses, it is used in road construction and according to the type of solvent used, it is divided into three categories: fast breaker (bitumen and gasoline), slow breaker (bitumen and kerosene) and late breaker (bitumen and diesel).

Sepahan Bitumen jey Company is a manufacturer of various types of bitumen metal barrels.
Export barrels include standard 84 cm export barrels with a capacity of 2 ± 150 kg.
Standard standard 98 cm export barrel with a capacity of 180 x 2 kg.
Standard export barrel 93 cm standard with a capacity of 200 kg.
And a standard 98 cm export barrel with a capacity of 225 kg.
Pure bitumen made of cold rolled steel sheets with st12 grade hardness and 0.6 mm thickness.
After leak testing, the produced barrels are manually painted with solvent and bitumen and transferred to the barrel filling fields for bitumen refining operations.
Production of 158 kg export metal barrels:
The sheet used to produce this barrel has a thickness of six tenths of a millimeter, the diameter of the barrel is 50 cm and its height is 83 cm. The net capacity of this type of bitumen barrel is 150 kg of pure bitumen and the weight of the barrel is 5.8 kg.
Production of 192 kg export metal barrels:
To make this type of barrel, sheets with a thickness of six tenths of a millimeter are used, the height of the barrel is 98 cm and its diameter is 50 cm. The weight of the barrel is 5.9 kg and its capacity is 182 kg of pure bitumen.
Production of 231 kg export metal barrels:
In order to produce 231 kg of bitumen barrels, sheets with a thickness of seven tenths of a millimeter or more are used. The height of this type of barrel is 98 cm and its diameter is 57 cm. The weight of the barrel is 5.11 kg and its capacity is 220 kg of pure bitumen.
Number of barrels per floor: about 115 barrels without pallets and 90 barrels of pallets.
The number of barrels per container is 20 feet: 110 barrels without pallets and 80 barrels for pallets.
The number of barrels per container is 40 feet: 150 barrels without pallets and 137 barrels for pallets.
